The challenge

In 2010, our Partner was located in northern Portugal, and required specific operational (assembly operating) skills in high volumes.

Until then candidates had been sourced through one supplier but, with the fulfilment rate below 70% and the employee turnover rate above 10%, this made the recruitment process both costly and inconsistent.

Furthermore, salaries were far less competitive in rural areas and near the border with Spain, where they are two and half times higher.

 

The solution

Our Onsite solution was chosen as it would improve the fulfilment and retention rate, as well as the quality of the candidates, who tended to have little in the way of school education. The solution presented also enabled the transition of temporary workers from the other supplier to ensure that there wouldn’t be any negative impact on production.

In order to ensure smooth implementation, we transitioned 200 temporary workers from one provider, organised a company presentation together with our Partner, and conducted short interviews with all the workers.

We implemented the Onsite solution with a dedicated Account Team including Operations Manager, Process Manager, Team Leader and recruiter. The implementation of our standard working procedures enabled us to reach a 100% fulfilment rate and to start reducing employee turnover and absenteeism.

In 2014 we worked with our Partner in the transition to their new plant, designed the recruitment solution and presented our market research, so that our Partner would have full confidence in the transition. In 2018 we were invited to run assessments for more than 130 workers and guarantee that nine groups of workers could work for three months in Germany.

 

The results

In this partnership during the course of the last 10 years, we have approached over 62,000 candidates. We have arranged more than 1,800 interviews, and placed and onboarded over 2,600 new temporary workers. This has been with a fulfilment rate of 100%, a delivery time of 24 hours, while more than 40% of the temporary workers have had the chance to join our Partner on a permanent basis.

Currently, we have over 300 temporary workers, with a turnover of under 4.5% and an absenteeism rate of under 3.5% in the last five years.
